A Place of My Own

As a result of my extreme boredness, I actually went to read my old blog! (Btw, I find it quite amazing that blogspot didn’t shut down my old site due to inactivity. But… Thanks?)

Anyway, after reading part of it, I found some things quite amusing.

1) I actually maintained the blog for nearly TWO YEARS. Like, OMG!!! Is that a personal record?!? It actually spanned from my JC days till uni days till I met my dear!!!

2) The language I used is absolutely hilarious. i guess i was writin in the… i dunno leh.. jc small gurl gurl kinda style~ =)

But with that said, what I wrote did sound more interesting then now. At least some part sounded pretty…… poetic to me. LOL.

3) I have ABSOLUTELY NO RECOLLECTION WHATSOEVER about alot of events that happened!!!

June 22nd 2004

” me finally msged him this morning coz i tot it was useless to keep waiting. realised that he has a fever. poor baby… he said that he din msg coz he was having a fever. i’m not sure if its strong enough an excuse, but i’ll buy it for now. honestly i have no idea wad is goin on. the signals he’s sending are so mixed that i dare not come to any conclusion in fear that i might misinterpret. he said he likes me. but if he likes me, den how come he never ever calls? how come i always have to be the one who has to take the initiative to msg or call him? budden when i start to think that maybe he doesn’t like me n he’s just fooling around with me, he always does the sweetest thing to make me feel so happy again. hai… this is so annoying. =( “

Ermmmm……….. I’m sorry if I sound heartless, but who is “he”? LOL.

4) I seem to sound lovesick all the time. And although I can’t quite remember who I’m talking about, I’m pretty sure I was referring to different guys every now and then.

But there’s alot to be learnt from old blogs. One thing for sure, I’m slowly starting to see some parts of me that were pretty immature, pompous, childish, vengeful, and overly-flirty and desperate. Perhaps its only with time that we can reflect on our past and realise how blinded we were to not have noticed who was staring right back at us when we looked in the mirror.

I miss the 90’s… April 11, 2008

I was studying in the library today, listening to my iPod. I realised that I was always skipping through certain songs and in the end, I end up listening to the same old few songs.

And these favourites of mine had something in common – they were Pop songs. Yes yes, you may laugh your ass off… But I realised that the Pop songs that I grew up listening to are honestly the best music I’ve ever listened!

There’s no angst, no vulgarities, no singers lamenting about their pathetic lives or how the world is going to end. It was just plain, simple, happy Pop!

As cheesy as it sounds, I love to hear floppy blonde hair cuties with baby blue eyes (it was the thing back then) crooning about how I’ll Never Break Your Heart and that they will go Anywhere For You. I get swept off my feet as they treat me Like A Rose and tell me that I Do (Cherish You). I mean, who wouldn’t die if someone told them that God Must Have Spent A Lil More Time On You?! Basically, I guess what Pop songs does for me is to instill hope in me that there is someone out there who is willing to give me his 10,000 Promises that he will give All I Have To Give and that its all Because of You. Sighhh……  I Want It That Way!!!

Yes, I love the 90s and I love my boy bands!!! And I am not ashamed to say it out loud!

NBS students beware! March 27, 2008

Remember this?

Yup, from the good ol’ primary school days. Found it in a vending machine at NBS and was so excited about trying it to rekindle the lost feelings!

When I opened the packaging, I was kinda… disappointed. Somehow I remember the cake to be bigger than this? But good things come in small packages right?

Sadly, it wasn’t the case. After I took one bite, there was a slight sourish after-taste. Hmmmm…. Didn’t remember it tasting like this 10 years ago. Unsure of whether it was my tastebuds or my memory was the one failing me, I took another bite.

This time around, I was pretty sure it wasn’t my tastebuds or my memory. So I took a closer look at the cake and I saw………. MOULD!!!

YES, MOULD ON MY CAKE!!! THE CAKE THAT I TOOK TWO BITES FROM!!!

No pictures of the mould though, coz I immediately dumped it in the bin. But it was white and look like strands on cotton. Was pretty sure it wasn’t sugar (as suggested by Hanyee) coz it was isolated to one part and I don’t remember sugar on the cake.

OMG I so wanna complain but sadly I have no picture evidence of the mould. Cheat my feelings (and my 60 cents)……. I was so eager to get in touch with my inner child and yet they try to poison me!!! Stupid Malaysians!!! PISSIFYING!!!

6/2 – Class of 1998 March 1, 2008

Just got back from the primary school class gathering, the first in 10 years. Turnout was surprisingly good as we managed to get around 15 people, which is pretty encouraging.

Dinner at Waraku was ok, but I think the most important part of the night was when we sat down and started recalling our childhood memories. Rachel brought the school “yearbook” and her old autograph book and we pored through it, trying to remember why we wrote certain things. Best friends, good friends, friends… Favourite food, drinks, actors, brands…… It was all good fun.

Its pretty amazing to see how some have changed so much over the years, while others look like they have no aged a single bit. I was rather stunned by a particular someone’s transformation, especially since it was someone I had least expected. I’m not going to name names or say if the change was for the better or worse, but I am pretty shocked.

Well, I guess 10 years is a long time and maybe I need to be more open to the fact that people do change. Perhaps, to them, I have changed too! Nonetheless, I’m looking forward to another gathering and hopefully this time it will not take another 10 years.

Out with the old, In with the new! February 4, 2008

Did the annual inaugural spring cleaning today, the one and only time when my room actually looks like a room fit for human beings.

This year was kinda special because I decided to put a stop to my rubbish collection and actually dump most of my stuff away. Hahahaha… I’m a modern karang guni lady.

Anyway, while I was cleaning, I found some interesting things!

Introducing………. My paper/plastic bag collection!

Doesn’t look too impressive, does it?

DSC03060

Haha! Look at how many different kinds I have… And this is actually just part of it coz over the years I’ve already dumped a few duplicates (yes, I kept more than 1 of each design. and yes, I’ve been collecting for quite awhile already). What surprised me was how many roxy/ripcurl/quiksilver/stussy/whatever-other-surf-brands plastic bags I had when I don’t even remember having that many of their stuff!

Also introducing………. My cassette collection!

I know this seems as foreign as some ancient prehistoric dinosaur to some, but it was THE thing during my time ok?!?! And you had to have a WALKMAN to be able to listen while on the go. And you have to CHANGE SIDES to listen to the whole album.

To remind you what a cassette tape looks like.

The hottest boyband during my time. But now they’re like all balding-and-getting-high-on-drugs/fat-and-have-no-taste-coz-he-dated-paris-hilton/fatherly-and-unaccomplished/gay-but-still-got-married/leaving-the-group-coz-he’s-too-old.

Anyway, they’re all gone now. Down the rubbish chute. Come to thiink of it, maybe if I kept them for another 50 years, I could earn big bucks selling them to a museum! LOL
