A Place of My Own

Did you miss me? August 4, 2008

Filed under: Food, Friends, Happy Times, Love & Relationships, School — Min @ 2:23 am

Haha.. After a long hiatus, I’m back! Not that I’ve actually been anywhere really. I guess when you’re jobless and do absolutely nothing everyday, there’s really no need to bore anyone with these details. Yes yes, some of you might be envious that I have the freedom to do nothing. But trust me, there’s nothing to be envious about.

Anyway, (kinda) new start calls for new theme! Haha… Yah, I kinda figured that content is more important than appearance! LOL. Also because I still think wordpress’ theme is very hard to figure out, as opposed to blogspot.

Ok, maybe I should update on what exciting events happened during the past 1 month…

14th July – Exciting day coz…. It’s My Birthday!!!

collage

Went to watch Hellboy II (which I think should be renamed Hell-BORE), dinner at Kenny Rogers and then cake-cutting in the car at Fort Canning. Loved the gorgeous Chocz cake that Dear got me.. Super rich chocolate, super sinful. I like…… :)

22nd July – A day my parents waited for a looooonnngggggggggg time. Convocation Day! A.k.a Last day as a student for the rest of my life!!! Wooohooooooooooooo………

collage1

Note the 2 lovely bouquets, which were handmade by my aunt, who used to be a florist but is still very very talented. Everyone thought my bf gave it to me though -_- Sighh… Sad to say, he didn’t make it and neither did he give me anything :(

26th July – A night not to be forgotten… La Vie de Vegas, NBS Convocation Ball 2008!

collage2

Possibly the best dinner I’ve ever been to! Food was great, programme was entertaining, company was lovely and we all looked damn good that night!! Haha… Ok, abit BHB. But compared to, like, Sec 4 and JC prom where everyone think they looked good but actually very orbiang, I think everyone was really quite chio/handsome lor.

27th July – Dear Dear’s Birthday!

collage3

Booked a chalet at Costa Sands Sentosa and dinner at Carnivore at Vivocity. Carnivore was nice but as usual the bf didn’t eat much, as with all buffets. Sometimes I think there’s something not right with him. When need to pay (i.e. ala carte), he eat so much and complain not full. When I bring him for buffets, he eat soooooooooooo little that he waste my money. Zzzzz…… No more buffets from now on!

Oh and we caught The Dark Knight too. Dear liked it so much that he wanted to watch it again. I thought it was so-so, not bad but not good enough to make me wanna watch it again. (For comparison’s sake, to me a I-wanna-watch-it-again movie would be Transformers. Which I did watch again, actually. And The Devil Wears Prada, which I watched, like, 3 times in a row on board a SQ flight.) But Heath Ledger was good though. Such a pity………

With so much activities in the month of July, its no wonder I’m still jobless! Hoho…. Finding excuses for myself. Ok la, August is a brand new start. Shall work hard to find a job before POSB closes my bank account due to inactivity and insufficient funds!

Our hard work finally paid off….. Woots!

I AM FREE!!!!!!!!!! April 28, 2008

Filed under: School — Min @ 11:46 pm

Today was my last exam paper. What’s so special is that I can finally use the word LAST and actually mean it.

Yup, after 15 years (Wow is has been that long!?!?) of studying, I can finally say BYE BYE to textbooks and exams. Actually, I wanna say more than bye bye, but this blog is PG.

It kinda feels surreal actually. Like, what’s next?

Hmmmm…… I’ll think about that later. For now, I’m looking forward to my 3 weeks trip with my dear dear! Wheeeeeeeee~

My last days at NTU April 8, 2008

Filed under: Food, Friends, School — Min @ 1:20 am

Haven’t blogged in quite awhile, so this is a quick update!

Actually there’s a video too, but for my own personal safety, I decided not to post it online.

And following the presentation was our last lecture at NTU on Thursday. Wooohoooooooo…………….. I’d like to think that this is my last lecture EVER, but lotsa people have been telling me that when I start work I also have to go for lecture. Sianzzz….

Today had meeting with wen for stupid cesim. Already do so badly liao still want us to chronicle our downfall. Worse of all, ITS NOT OUR FAULT THAT WE FELL FROM GRACE!!! Zzz… if not for the fact that its 10%, I die die also don’t want to present.

Anyway, silly wendy shi sheng (hoho), but by the time lunchtime came, she was well enough to have spaghetti. Haha… her throat selective one sia.

Had lunch at the new RESTAURANT at NTU. YES, NTU HAS A RESTAURANT!! Its called The Palatte. Surprisingly (for NTU’s standard), the place and menu looked pretty decent!

Sadly, this being the first day of operation, they didn’t have the full menu. And despite putting in effort to mark their chef’s recommendations with pretty pink stars, they weren’t available. Zzzzzz……

So we had to settle for this. Spaghetti Alfredo and The Palette House Salad.

Hungry wen forgot about her sore throat and toothache…

I thought the pasta was pretty bland. Maybe first day they ran out of salt? Salad was… salad lor. What can I say?

But overall, its ok lahhh… Commendable effort. And definitely a BIG improvement from the current western food (think Can A and B).

What 16 hours of fyp can do to sane people March 11, 2008

Filed under: School — Min @ 1:43 am

Just got home after surviving SIXTEEN hours of doing fyp. That’s like 2/3 of my entire day gone! Poof! We actually booked 3 consecutive sessions of the reading room in library 2 (total of 13 hours) PLUS another 3 hours at the benches after the library closed. The last 3 hours at the benches ended up giving me a terrible backache.

Today was the first time I stayed in school till past midnight (Actually, my final year in NTU seems to mark alot of “first-times”). By the time the clock struck 12, all of us were going had gone hysterical and were laughing at stupid things which were actually nothing.

“Refer, indicate, mean, show, imply, illustrate, demonstrate……”

Hanyee took a picture of my car because we left school so late that my poor car was the only one left in the carpark. It looked quite pathetic under the dim orange light of the street lamps above and its windows all wet and fogged up from the rain. Kinda resembled an old busted and abandoned ride .

But it was good fun tho. Can’t wait to hand in the report tomorrow and say bye bye to library 2 for good!!!

6/2 – Class of 1998 March 1, 2008

Filed under: Friends, Old Times, School — Min @ 1:16 am

Just got back from the primary school class gathering, the first in 10 years. Turnout was surprisingly good as we managed to get around 15 people, which is pretty encouraging.

Dinner at Waraku was ok, but I think the most important part of the night was when we sat down and started recalling our childhood memories. Rachel brought the school “yearbook” and her old autograph book and we pored through it, trying to remember why we wrote certain things. Best friends, good friends, friends… Favourite food, drinks, actors, brands…… It was all good fun.

Its pretty amazing to see how some have changed so much over the years, while others look like they have no aged a single bit. I was rather stunned by a particular someone’s transformation, especially since it was someone I had least expected. I’m not going to name names or say if the change was for the better or worse, but I am pretty shocked.

Well, I guess 10 years is a long time and maybe I need to be more open to the fact that people do change. Perhaps, to them, I have changed too! Nonetheless, I’m looking forward to another gathering and hopefully this time it will not take another 10 years.

I need sleep February 19, 2008

Filed under: School — Min @ 1:10 am

Today I was a walking zombie. Can’t imagine how I actually managed to survive being in school from 11.30am to 9.00pm, with nothing but meetings after meetings.

I don’t like having meetings when I am sleepy and tired coz I tend to be grouchy and will snap at anyone who makes a single mistake. Fortunately, I didn’t face that situation today (although I did try very hard to hold my tongue during 1 particular meeting when this girl kept bossing me around).

I’m kinda writing rubbish coz my fingers are moving and words are coming out but I’m not too sure if I am processing them in my brain.

Tomorrow is another loooonnnggggggg day. Have to rush fyp draft 1 coz stupid tutor wants to meet us on wed. What are the chances that he picks wed when we gave him the option of wed, thurs and fri? So low that I am shocked we are that suay. Then again, we’re always suay.

I should be finishing my report but I am too tired from doing 311. Which is another stupid subject, by the way.

SHOULD STOP COMPLAINING. SHALL GO SLEEP.

Go back to Vietnam!!! February 18, 2008

Filed under: School — Min @ 1:08 am

OMG I AM DAMN FUCKING PISSED OFF NOW!!!

He is honestly the most stupid and retarded person I have ever met in this whole world! With just a turn of his idiotic brain, he brought us down to 3rd place when we were 1st!!!

Highlights of his stupidity:

1. Continuing to buy more new features when we already had 5. Like, hello?!? Can’t you see that no one else is investing in Tech 1 anymore?!?

2. Buying THREE new features at a go for Tech 2. Excuse me, does your grandfather print money?!?!

3. BUYING the new features instead of RESEARCHING them. R&D STANDS FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, NOT BUY AND DEVELOPMENT YOU DIMWIT!!! Do you know your wasteful spending has costed a total of $220,000?!?!?

4. Not increasing the PRICE of the products when he has increased the no. of features. I seriously don’t get it. If you’re so adamant on having more new features, shouldn’t you at least have the brains to increase the selling price?!?! What do we look like?!?! A charitable organisation?!?!?

5. Selling in US when the case clearly told us that the corporate tax rate there is 38% while Asia is 18%. OBVIOUSLY you should sell less in US and more in Asia right?!?!?

OMG doesn’t he have any common sense at all?!?! Or is that word too chim for him?!?! Any 3 year old kid can understand the logic behind the game! I am seriously soooooooooooooooooooo pissed off that I could just kill him!!!!!!

Help me I’m drowning… February 13, 2008

Filed under: School — Min @ 12:44 am

This is the final semester of my university studies and yet I have a strange ominous feeling that this is going to be the worst. I feel like I am not in control of many things which I should be in control of.

I am totally lagging behind for 214 and 311 and my notes are mostly empty coz I couldn’t wake up in time to attend lectures. In the past, I used to pon lectures too but I couldn’t still roughly catch what the tutorial was all about and participate. Now, I find it hard to participate coz of the ra-ra boys and the mere fact that I don’t quite feel like speaking up anymore.

I am unable to take charge of projects as I used to simply because there are so many of them that I am overwhelmed and I cannot keep track of which ones are due! 214 has 3 “small” ones and 1 “medium” project plus an individual one, 215 has 2 “small” ones and 1 “big” one, 311 has……countless. Have to prepare tutorial questions every week (in powerpoint, no less), have to play virtual game, have to make TWO presentations on our thoughts about the game plus one other dunnowhatpresentation. ARGH!!!!!!! How to remember so many?!?!?! In the end, I have no choice but to take the back seat and be passive, letting others take charge and remind me of when the deadlines are. Which I don’t quite like coz when you are passive it means that you have to give up some control and authority. Not my style. Bleahx.

My fyp is also lagging, although this is largely due to our anal supervisor who wants to have the report ONE week before the official dateline and he takes TWO weeks to read through a report when others only need ONE. Best of all, he can’t even remember our team and what we are doing, let alone give constructive suggestions! It is soooooooooo tedious to have to work on something for 7 months!!!

Just filled up my organiser with the various deadlines……….I feel like flushing it down the toilet bowl already. Zzzzz….
